As a family photographer, there is something truly magical about capturing the delicate moments of a newborn session. Today, we dive into the heartwarming experience of photographing a precious baby girl for a family of five residing in their lovely Denver home.
The beauty of family photography is that each family is unique. The best compliment I receive from clients is how comfortable I make them feel.
Feeling at ease at a photography session is a big feat, especially right after you had a baby. As a mom of three myself I know how how fragile yet sacred those first few weeks with your new baby are. I love putting people at ease so you feel comfortable to be your selves at your session. I’ve had a few people look at their photos after their session and smile and say, “This is us.” There’s truly no higher praise than that.
While I know the purpose of the newborn sessions is to capture your littlest love, I really go out of my way to give the older kiddos attention and incorporate the whole family in the session.
When I make an effort to make the other kiddos feel special and seen it really helps their love for their new sibling come alive. So don’t be surprised when I start chatting up your older kiddos about their interests and let them show me all the things they love in their little world. This is intentional for the purpose of the session 🙂
One thing I loved about this session is that mom intentionally scheduled it later so that her baby would be awake for the session. (If you schedule your session for 3+ weeks after your baby is born you’re more likely to get photos of baby awake and asleep!)
While I have systems and processes to help you through the session and planning process, ultimately my job is to serve you. Because she wished for the photos to be with her baby awake the session was a bit shorter than normal. We worked quickly to get the shots she wanted and when the baby got tired toward the end of the session we wrapped up. The more you can share with me what you want out of your session, the better!
I take on a limited number of sessions a month to ensure quick gallery turnaround times and curated sessions for each family.
